In a recently published research led by Assistant research professor and Director of GIS and remote sensing laboratory, Dr. Susan Pan confirms that the increase in surface air temperature must remain below 1.5 degrees Celsius to curb the rate of climate change and maintain ecosystem services.
Along with colleagues from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the AU team found that global net primary production as a measure of human demand for food, fiber, wood and bio-fuels, would level off and begin to decline at any increase in temperature above 1.5 degrees.
